The Kinks had a long run in the 60s and 70s, generating great songs like “You Really Got Me,” “All Day and All of The Night” and “Lola.” Ray and Dave Davies began their musical journey in the early 60s, but seemed to be out shadowed by the Who, Beatles, Eric Burdon, and other British bands.

Most people forget that the younger brother Dave was the ground breaking son, creating a band called the Ravens, inviting moody and older brother Ray to join the band. We may have never heard from the Kinks if it weren’t for baby brother Dave.

The band never garnished the credit from critics they so richly deserved, but did however do enough in their career to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, admitted in 1990.

Ray Davis has always been considered the driving force behind the writing and artistic direction of the Kinks, given that the song “A Well Respected Man” was pithy and rich in meaning. Ray has always been interested in recording and touring, even to this day. Recently, Ray announced a small tour with dates.

4/8 — St. Charles, IL
4/15 — Provincetown, MA
4/20 — Londonderry, NH
