A few years ago, the Janis Joplin documentary Janis: ‘Little Girl Blue’ was warmly received, generating more interest in rock or music based documentaries. What were the best from 2017?

‘Rolling Stones: From the Edge’ give fans and skeptics the look back at the highs, and more importantly the lows of being in the shadow of the Beatles.

“A Long Strange Trip’ is the 60s and early 70s look back at the Grateful Dead; the band missions of people loved to talk about.

Lady Gaga’s ‘Five Foot Two’ is the unabashed look at Gaga at home, vulnerable and real. There is plenty of nudity in this documentary, but what do you expect?

‘Can I Be Me’ is about Whitney Houston from British Director Nick Broomfield and is a wonderful look at Whitney and Bobby, the dynamic that eventually defined her, eventually dooming her.
