Lalah Hathaway’s Continued Success at the Grammys

Some artists and bands have just had major success at the Grammys each and every year. We’re beginning to think that Lalah Hathaway is starting to be one of those artists. With her Grammy win on Monday, it marks the third straight year with a Grammy win.

Lalah has been quite the artist in her career, winning Best R&B Performance in 2014 and Best Traditional R&B Performance in 2015 and 2016. This year, “Little Ghetto Boy” was the winner over the likes of Faith Evans, Tyrese, Jazmine Sullivan, and Charlie Wilson.

Speaking of success, there were two R&B artists that just couldn’t get over the hump this year and win an award. Jazmine Sullivan and Tyrese both fell victim to Lalah Hathaway for Best Traditional Performance, but also couldn’t beat out D’Angelo and The Vanguard for Beset R&B Song. Jazmine also lost her other nomination for Best R&B Album.
