In the late 70s and early 80s Cliff Richard from Britain crashed onto the American music charts with “Devil Woman” and “We Don’t Talk Anymore.” Most people didn’t know that Cliff had been making his bones in the music game since the late 1950s, yet walking away from Rock ‘n Roll before his comeback in the late 70s.

Cliff Richard had early success as the lead singer of ‘The Drifters’ (The British Drifters, no relations to US Drifters) becoming a British teen sensation before the Beatles in the early 60s. Much like America, British crooners disappeared with the advent of the Beatles in 1963, so Cliff slipped away from the spotlight.

It was a courageous record label that decided to re-package Cliff as a rocker in 1979, releasing two eventual hits “Devil Woman” & “We Don’t Talk Anymore.” Cliff was knighted in 1995, continuing to tour to this day at the tender age of 75.
