With the big NFL game taking over the national media in recent days and even weeks, we’ve missed out on some of the big sports headlines that have crossed the airwaves lately. Let’s take a look back at some of the big happenings in sports that have occurred over the last week or so.

Derek Fisher was fired from the New York Knicks after just one and a half seasons as the team’s head coach. Even though the team has already eclipsed last year’s win total (17 wins in 2014, 23 wins this season in just over half the games), Fisher wasn’t doing enough for the team’s front office apparently.

Von Miller won the MVP of the NFL’s championship game this past weekend and now rumors are that he’s just earned himself a major contract this offseason. It is expected that the elite pass rusher has earned himself the title of the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. Worst case scenario, he’ll be franchise tagged and the Broncos can work on putting together their best offer possible over the next few months.

Brett Favre, Tony Dungy, Marvin Harrison, Ken Stabler, Kevin Greene, Orlando Pace, Dick Stanfel, and Eddie DeBartolo Jr. have all been voted into the NFL Hall of Fame as the 2016 class. They will be officially be a part of Canton, Ohio, on Aug. 6.
