The 2016 season has been finished for more than a few weeks now and so we see the awards start piling in. The first awards chosen were the rookie of the year awards for both the American League and National League. Here are this year’s 2016 winners…

Michael Fulmer wins the award for the American League. He was dominant for the Detroit Tigers this past year, pitching to a 3.06 ERA and 11-7 ERA in 159 innings. Fulmer was red hot this past June with a .67 ERA in five starts and had an amazing run of shutout innings starting in June and ending in July. He won the award over Gary Sanchez (New York Yankees) and Tyler Naquin (Cleveland Indians).

Corey Seager won this same award in the National League. He was a star at the shortstop position, hitting .308 with 26 home runs this past season. He was a model of consistency, playing in 157 games and hitting .295 or better in every month but one this past season. Seager beat out Trea Turner (Washington Nationals) and Kenta Maeda (Los Angeles Dodgers) for this award.
