Young the Giant Have New Music Video ‘Heat Of The Summer’

On Monday, July first, Young The Giant unveiled the new video for “Heat of the Summer,” and sadly for frontman Sameer Gadhia, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of that.

“No one can take me out of this mess/ I do it to myself/ I lost my phone, my keys, what else?/ The acid doesn’t help,” Gadhia sings. The visual follows Gadhia as he takes a trip to the beach. However, it’s not as fun as he thought it’d be. There’s a constant rain cloud hovering over him, drenching the singer in rain.

“Heat of the Summer” is from the Young The Giant’s latest album Mirror Master, out now via Elektra records. The band is also currently on a co-headlining North American tour with Fitz and the Tantrums.

He tries to remedy the unexplained sadness with ice cream, a joint, and sunscreen, but none of it works. As he begins to feel helpless, he runs away from the cloud, which then attacks him. After the cloud attack, Gadhia suddenly bursts into a full-fledged rock star, sequin blazer and all, surrounded by other party-goers as he dances and sings. Talk about summer heat.
