You know how rumors start. The topic is always juicy, scandalous yes interesting but often untrue. Let’s dispel a few of the more interesting classic rumors…

Elvis, Jim Morrison, and for few months Paul McCartney faked their own deaths. The Beatles used the “Paul is Dead” rumor is credited to an editor of the Drake University newspaper who printed “Is Beatle Paul McCartney Dead?” Believe it or not, there are still a handful of fans that Paul died and was replaced by a look-a-like.

There were rumors that mass murder and recently departed Charles Manson auditioned for “The Monkees” but the truth is no, he never did. He did, however, make friends with Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson, and yes, Charles did audition for record producer Terry Melcher, but there is no truth to the Monkee rumor.

No, Mama Cass did not choke on a rich, a ham sandwich, and sorry, Deborah Harry did not once hitch a ride with Ted Bundy the serial killer in the early ’70s.
