39 Years ago today Elvis Presley died at the incredibly young age of 42; his autopsy and cause of death would later reveal years of pharmaceutical drug abuse and addition. Elvis ultimately beat his addition with his death in his Memphis home on August 16 1977. Last year alone, the Elvis Presley estate earned over $42 million dollars.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on January 8th, 1935 in a poor Tupelo MS family, though his family relocates to Memphis while he was a young teen. In 1954 Elvis made a recording for his mother at Sun Records (Sam Phillips)
