This past Fourth of July reminded us of what many believe the best rendition of the National Anthem ever is – the version sung by the late Whitney Houston, who tragically passed away only days from the 2012 Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

In mid-June much of her personal possession went up for sale with the exception of the 1986 Emmy statue. A federal judge ruled it could not be listed and auctioned off.

Whitney may have been the most awarded female artist of all time, but was wonderful in the film ‘The Bodyguard’ with Kevin Costner. She appeared in nine moves from 1992 to 2013.

The Guinness World Records calls her the most awarded female act of all time, having sold over 200, million records during her brief career.

The Bodyguard soundtrack’s single “I Will Always Love You” written and originally recorded by Dolly Parton nearly 25 years earlier.

On February 11, 2012, Whitney Houston was found unconscious in Suite 434 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, submerged in the bathtub. The medical examiner ruled her death accidental. Sadly, her daughter Bobbi died under similar circumstances on January 31st, 2015.
