Upcoming “Barbie” Moving Has Star-Studded Cast Including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, More

America’s favorite doll is being brought to life with Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie film, which already has a star-studded cast making up Barbie and her many, fashionable friends.

Margot Robbie is starring in the film as Barbie, herself, with Ryan Gosling as Ken, her boyfriend.

America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, and Issa Rae have all been announced as additions to the cast.

Most details about the film have yet to be released, but Robbie, who is also producing the upcoming comedy, has said that she hopes the movie takes audiences by surprise.

“The name itself, people immediately have an idea of, ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,’ but our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn’t know you wanted,'” she said of the project, which is currently in production in the UK.

Barbie is expected to hit theaters sometime next year.
