It turns out that Elon Musk and Grimes’ unique name choice for their newborn baby is a no go. It is believed that the baby was born in Los Angeles, California. And according to a supervisor at the Department of Public Health Vital Records Office in LA, it is against California law to include numbers or symbols in a name.

The law states names must only include the 26 letters of the English alphabet and X Æ A-12 definitely does not meet that criteria.

Elon revealed the news of the baby’s birth and photos via a series of Twitter replies Monday, along with the odd name choice. Grimes alto took to social media to explain the name their inspiration for the name. Which turns out to be the A-12 plane, a CIA spy plane used during the Cold War.

No word on what the child’s legal name will be for now, but it will probably be something.. unique.
