Tragedy has struck singer Tom Jones as news of his wife Linda’s death hit the news wires this week. Tom was on the road in the Philippines when he heard of his wife’s passing, rushing home to be with family and friends. Linda had a brief battle with cancer, losing her life at the age of 75 in Los Angeles.
Tom and Linda had an unconventional marriage, marrying in 1957 – Linda with child. Over the years she grew to put up with Tom’s very public adulterous misadventures, telling friends that Tom was the love of her life regardless of his affairs. In recent years Linda became a recluse, rarely seen with Tom in public. This was the life she chose. She loved her man till the bitter end. How deep was their love? Tom now shares that he may never perform again, as the love songs he sang to millions of adoring fans were sung to her and her alone.
A lifelong smoker, Linda had beaten cancer twice before, but the dreaded disease finally caught up with her. Lady Melinda Rose Woodward, dead at the age of 75.
