1962 -The Beach Boys album “Surfin’ Safari” was released. It was their first album release.

1964 – Vee Jay Records released the album “The Beatles Vs. The Four Seasons.”

1969 – “Abbey Road” by the Beatles was released in the U.S. It was released a week earlier in England.

1970 – Jimi Hendrix was buried in Seattle, WA.

1970 – Curtis Mayfield left the Impressions for a solo career.

1972 – Jon Mark (Mark Almond Band) lost his left ring finger. The remainder of the tour was canceled.

1975 – Al Jackson, Jr. (MG’s) was shot and killed by an intruder in his house at the age of 39.

1976 – Styx released the album “Crystal Ball.”

1977 – Elton John became the first rock & roller to be honored in New York City’s Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame.

1980 – “One Trick Pony,” the semi-autobiographical film of Paul Simon, premiered in New York City.

1984 – The album “Apollonia 6” was released.
