1966 – The Beach Boys began recording “God Only Knows.”

1979 – James Brown played at the Grand Ole Opry.

1988 – Andy Gibb died from myocarditis (inflammation of the heart) following a long battle with cocaine addiction, which had weakened his heart.

1988 – In the U.S.,Prince’s 10th album was released entitled “Lovesexy.” Some stores refused to sell the album due to the nude portrait that was on the cover.

1992 – Prince received a lifetime achievement award at the Soul Train Awards.

1998 – Eric Clapton’s first album of regular studio material since 1989 was released under the name “Pilgrim.”
