1942 – Sammy Kaye and his orchestra recorded “I Left My Heart at the Stage Door Canteen.”

1956 – Elvis Presley made his second appearance on Milton Berle’s “Texaco Star Theatre”.

1956 – Gene Vincent’s “Be-Bop-A-Lula” was released.

1959 – Bob Zimmerman graduated from high school in Hibbing, MN. He later changed his name to Bob Dylan.

1964 – David Jones and The King Bees had their first record, “Liza Jane”, released. David Jones later became known as David Bowie.

1969 – The Doors documentary “Feast of Friends” premiered.

1971 – James Taylor’s “You’ve Got A Friend” was released.

1972 – Maureen McGovern quit her job as a full-time secretary for a new career as a full time singer.

1974 – Sly Stone married Kathy Silva onstage during a concert in New York City.

1974 – Patti Smith recorded her first song. It was her version of “Hey Joe.”

1977 – Alice Cooper’s pet boa constrictor was bitten by a rat it was trying to eat, and died.

1979 – Muddy Waters (64 years old) married Marva Jean Brooks on her 25th birthday.

1995 – Kelley Deal (Breeders) pled guilty to drug possession charges. She was sentenced to treatment in a rehabilitation center.
