‘The Who’ is one of those bands that found an audience in the mid-60s while competing with the Beatles and Rolling Stones, releasing complex albums like “Quadrophenia” and “Tommy,” while enjoying chart success with “I Can’t Explain,” “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Squeeze Box.” The ‘Tommy’ LP inspired a movie and Broadway play, and elevated the group to a higher brand status.
Recently, it was announced that The Who will take a brief residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, in a run that begins July 29th and continues to August 11th. The Who will also appear at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco on the 13th of August, and the Outdoor Arena in Lake Tahoe on August 16th.
The Who was initially called the ‘Detours,’ and were the first known band to smash their guitars during live shows. The original drummer Keith Moon died in 1978, while bassist John Entwistle died in 2002.
