Although the 60s and 70s had their moment in the sun (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doobie Brothers, Beach Boys and Motown), it’s the 80s we’re thrilled about. Imagine the songs that came from artists that made the 80s the finest mass appeal decade ever.

In our list below, Bruce, Michael, Peter and separately Genesis, U2, and AC/DC are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; why the others aren’t yet in the Hall is a mystery.

Here are (in our opinion) the best LPs of the 80s

1.) Bruce Springsteen – Born in the USA (1984)
2.) U2 – The Joshua Tree (1987)
3.) Michael Jackson – Thriller (1982)
4.) INXS – Kick (1987)
5.) Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet (1986)
6.) Bryan Adams – Reckless (1984)
7.) Prince & the Revolution – Purple Rain (1984)
8.) Huey Lewis & The News – Sports (1983)
9.) Dire Straits – Brothers in Arms (1985)
10.) Genesis – Invisible Touch (1986)
11.) Peter Gabriel – So (1986)
12.) AC/DC – Back in Black (1980)

Conclusions: We don’t have enough time or space to list all the singles that came from these albums; suffice to say that radio loved the rock of the 80s, and they loved us.
