The decade of the 2000s, the first days after the Y2K crisis that really turned out to be a hoax to sell more malware and spyware software, were pretty scary for music as well. What was the top movie at the box office? Gladiator, Castaway and Erin Brokovich were best sellers, and so were these songs… The Top R&B Tunes of the year 2000…

.) “Breath” by Faith Hill
.) “Higher Love” by Creed
.) “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child
.) “Amazed” with Lonestar
.) “I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden
.) “Smooth” by Santana featuring Rob Thomas
.) “Everything You Want” by Vertical Horizon
.) “He Wasn’t Man Enough” by Toni Braxton
.) “Try Again” by By Aaliyah

Conclusions: Powerful women ruled music in the year 2000 with Faith, Destiny’s Child, Toni and Aaliyah all selling millions of records. Sadly, Aaliyah would never see 23, perishing in a tragic plane accident. Beyoncé would rise from 2000 to be the most identifiable performer our time, while Faith Hill is still going strong with Tim McGraw.
