The 1970s came after a turbulent 60s, but was not without its own issues; Watergate, inflation, the Iran Hostage situation, and in 1976 Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak create Apple. What were the top albums of the 70s decade?

Here are our top albums of the 1970s…

1. A Night at the Opera – Queen
2. Dark Side Of The Moon – Pink Floyd
3. Rumours – Fleetwood Mac
4. Born To Run – Bruce Springsteen
5. Exile On Main Street – Rolling Stones
6. Frampton Comes Alive – Peter Frampton
7. Led Zeppelin IV – Led Zeppelin
8. Who’s Next – The Who
9. Damn the Torpedoes – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
10. London Calling – The Clash
11. Live Bullet – Bob Seger
12. Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars – David Bowie
13. Night Moves – Bob Seger

Conclusions: The 70s were not only a Hall of Fame decade, but the foundation for every great song in modern time. Without exception, lost on a desert island, any of these LPs from the 70s would improve your chances of survival. Freddie, David, and Joe (Joe Strummer of the Clash) would have loved to hang around longer, but are no longer with us. PS – this list shows just how influential British music was back then, and how important Bob Seger turned out to be.
