In London at the Southbank Centre, the ABBA exhibition is one of the hottest tickets in music and entertainment through Christmas. The band ABBA turned out to be one of the hottest bands of all time. ABBA began in the late 60s as Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. There have been books, musicals, movies and continued tours since the band’s birth, selling an estimated 500 million records worldwide.

“Dancing Queen” seems to be the song most associated with the group, a tune from their fourth album. Disco was coming to an end, and this tune released in 1976 stayed on the charts at number one for most of the year.

“Mamma Mia” was released in 1975, breaking the rules on a few fronts. The song came from the band’s self-titled third album and was never intended to be a single. In fact, the song was offered to a few other groups who turned it down, so they recorded the song as filler.

Abba’s first charted single was “People Need Love” a Swedish only single, their first American tune to hit the charts was “Waterloo” two years later.
