The Babys hit the charts many years ago with great songs like “Isn’t It Time,” “Back On My Feet Again,” and “Every Time I Think of You,” but the interesting part of the band isn’t the Babys part, it’s the news after the Babys.

Michael Corby, vocalist/bassist John Waite, drummer Tony Brock and guitarist Wally Stocker started their rock and roll journey in 1974 in London. The band broke a record at the time in that they signed a two record deal that was the most lucrative for 1977.

The aftermath left John Waite to have a very successful solo career, with his biggest hit “Missing You” becoming the high watermark for the singer. Fans were to learn decades later that the song was inspired my then MTV VJ Nina Blackwood!

Jonathan Cain the keyboardist joined the group after the first change in the lineup in 1976, eventually joined the band Journey.

Guitarist Ricky Philips left the band to form Bad English’ a group that had moderate success in the 80s. Ricky also played briefly with ‘Styx’ then with the musicians that backed up Ted Nugent and Sammy Hagar.
