If you’ve been craving a McRib from McDonald’s, you’ll only have to wait a little bit longer. Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and do what you have to do to prepare for November 1. On this date, the cult-favorite McDonald’s McRib sandwich will be back at participating locations nationwide. Key word: participating locations, so be sure to check in with your local golden arches to see if they’ll be one of those before you get your hopes up.
True McDonald’s fans know the McRib is nothing new. In fact, it’s been around (on and off) for 40 years now. It features a seasoned boneless pork patty slathered in BBQ sauce that’s then topped with slivered onions and tart dill pickles, all on a homestyle bun. The slightly sweet and tangy barbecue sauce pairs flawlessly with the sour pickles and crunch of the onions for a sandwich that keeps people coming back whenever news breaks of its return.
In a statement from McDonald’s, they have stated that the “hype around its annual return” has given “birth to the phrase ‘McRib Season.’” The McRib is made up of seasoned boneless pork, barbecue sauce, onions and pickles on a hoagie-style bun.
However, the McRib will only be around for a limited time, but based on these yearly trends we can cross our fingers it will be back again in 2022. For now, just be sure to get in as many McDonald’s runs after November 1 as possible to satisfy your McRib craving before it leaves menus once again.
