Just before the clock struck 12, the Houston Astros did something they’ve never done before. They won the World Series. In a series where excitement has been non-stop, this one didn’t have a whole lot past the first few innings. The Astros went up 5-0 on the backs of a George Springer home run in the second inning and never looked back. They would win 5-1 and Springer would win the World Series MVP honors.
Charlie Morton was the unsung hero in this one pitching the final four innings and giving up just one earned run. He earned the win while Yu Darvish struggled in his second straight World Series start and earned the loss. Many thought the Astros would struggle to pitch well in game seven, but they did nothing of the sort. Five pitchers combined to give up just one run and six hits.
