The Daughters of Casey Kasem

The daughters of the late ‘American Top 40” star Casey Kasem were on Capitol Hill a few days ago, hoping to create new legislation in memory of their father, in the hopes of helping other families with similar stories. If you remember, Casey was near death and his current wife blocked visitation rights, to the point that she moved Casey to another state to get away from them.

Kemal Amen Kasem was born and raised in the Motor City. Here are a few interesting facts about Casey and the famous radio program that ran for over 30 years.

American Top 40 began on July 4th, 1970. The show’s first number one was Three Dog Night’s “Mama Told Me (Not to Come).” Casey was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013, and died in 2014 in Gig Harbor WA. The court had to get involved many times during Casey’s last days, and Keri and Catherine hope to change the way families.
