According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Bill Duffy, Doncic’s agent, it has been recently announced that NBA star Luka Doncic has agreed to a five-year $207 million extension with the Dallas Mavericks. Days after returning to Slovenia following an inspired run in the Tokyo Olympics, Doncic is receiving the largest supermax rookie extension in NBA history.

On his signing Doncic stated, “Today is a dream come true. I am humbled and excited to remain in Dallas as part of the Mavericks, and appreciate the support of my fans.”

It’s been a whirlwind offseason for Doncic, who has had little time off since the Mavericks’ early exit from the NBA playoffs. Now he kicks off a well earned vacation with a massive and deserved deal.

In a much publicized move, a front office contingent that included Dirk Nowitzki arrived in Slovenia to meet with Doncic and Duffy in Ljubljana to physically hand the young star his new max contract. Though free agency began last week Doncic made it clear he wished to focus exclusively on the Olympic tournament and address his contract after.

MFFL’s everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief to see the franchise-saving superstar commit to the Mavericks. While there was little doubt that he would sign the deal, the physical act alone is cause for celebration.
