Lynyrd Skynyrd is originally from Jacksonville with the boys meeting in high school. We all know that the name of the band came from their gym teacher who gave them grief for the length of their hair. Leonard Skinner recently died with a few of the band members speaking at the funeral.

Tom Petty once worked as a laborer on the grounds of the University of Florida (his dad had high hopes of Tom attending college; they became estranged for years when he did not).

K.C. and the Sunshine Band is from Hialeah FL. Harry ‘Wayne’ Casey worked part time at a record store and recording studio, busily writing songs at night, sneaking into the studio at night to record his demos.

Also from Florida are the Bellamy Brothers, Molly Hatchet, Creed, The Royal Guardsman, Dennis Yost and the Classics 4 and The Outlaws.
