The year 1986 seems like a long time ago, but the music will take you back to a more civil time when Congress and politicians overall had a higher approval rating and worked together. The price of gas was affordable, and the music reflected a mix of Urban, British, and Pop superstars at the beginning of their careers. Here’s our list of the most significant songs from 1986…

“That’s What Friends Are For” from Dionne & Friends
“Say You, Say Me” by Lionel Richie
“West End Girls” from Pet Shop Boys
“Alive And Kicking” by Simple Minds
Kiss » Prince & The Revolution
“On My Own” Patti Labelle & Michael McDonald
“Broken Wings” by Mr. Mister
“How Will I Know” by Whitney Houston
“Party All The Time” from Eddie Murphy
“Kyrie” from Mr. Mister
“Addicted To Love” by Robert Palmer
“Greatest Love Of All” by Whitney Houston

Conclusions: Whitney, Prince, and Lionel were hotter than the 4th of July in 1986, and the Brits invaded again with the late Robert Palmer, Pet Shop Boys, Mr. Mister and Simple Minds. Notice the only one hit wonder on the list; comedian Eddie Murphy who realized comedy was easier than music.
