What were the most significant television moments in rock and roll, the events that changed everything?

Doris Day and Mitch Miller were on the music charts in January of 1964, prior to the Beatles appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show. On February 9, 1964, the Fab Four performed “All My Loving,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “Till There Was You,” and “She Loves You,” in two parts of the show.

Here’s why the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show that cold February 1964 night change everything.

The hair; believe it or not, most parents complained the hair was way too long. The sound; the Rickenbacker guitar was completely new to American audiences, as was the construction of the song, and the harmonies. The music was upbeat and sexy, cool and loud.
