The Band’s Levon Helm Boyhood Home Honored By Arkansas

One of the gritty bands from the 60s and early 70s was ‘The Band’ which hit the charts with great songs like “The Weight” “The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down” and “Up on Cripple Creek.” Now you’ll have a chance to visit the home of one of rock and rolls best drummers in Arkansas, thanks to the state.

The Band’s legendary drummer Levon Helm who passed away a few years ago is having his Arkansas boyhood home in Turkey Scratch, relocated to Marvell, Arkansas a few years ago will be honored by the state as a home recognized by Arkansas’ Register of Historic Places. The home is being restored by charitable funds through the Levon Helm Legacy Project, with plans to install a statue of bronze on the plot, with the likeness of Levon.
