The American Music Awards has only one category for Alternative Rock, however each of the nominees have crossed platforms and are popular not only in Alt rock, but through to the pop charts as well.
The nominees for Favorite Artist – Alternative Rock are Imagine Dragons, Panic! At the Disco and Portugal. The Man. While all three of these bands are heavy hitters in music right now, Panic! At the Disco is the only band from the category performing at the event with a tribute to Queen. Foreshadowing?
