‘American Idol’ has produced many a star; Philip Phillips, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, Jordan Sparks, Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, and Jennifer Hudson were not only discovered on the show but enjoyed a great deal of success after the stage lights went dark.
This year it’s been announced that legendary writer and singer Lionel Richie will join Katy Perry and Luke Bryan as the third judge for the upcoming 2018 season. Lionel had actually been speaking to the producers of the show for a while, up until now they were unable to come up with a salary Lionel would agree to. At issue is the large amounts of money the network needed to sign Katy and host Ryan, leaving less money for the other two judges.
