The recently played big NFL game reminded us how live sporting events and great music go together like peanut butter and jelly. Your team enters the field, and boom there’s a great tune. Here’s part one of “Super Sports Songs.”

“Enter Sandman” by Metallica is a classic sports song by a heavy metal band that has been widely accepted – hey, even dad likes the guitar lick. This song has been used since its birth at all home Virginia Tech football games.

“Start me Up” by the Rolling Stones is a simple, clean, guitar driven song that you’ll hear at baseball, football, and even math competitions.

“Na Na Hey Hey” by the 60s band Steam is the single most played song at the end of the sporting event when one group of fans want to really rub it in to the other group of fans.

“Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor denotes strength and attitude in the face of adversity. Sadly, the voice of this rock anthem, Jimi Jamison, lost his life in 2014 to drugs and a stroke.
