Stacey Ross Cohen, CEO of Co-Communications, recently took the TEDx stage to deliver a fresh perspective on personal branding, demonstrating how a well-developed personal brand can pave the way for success in college, career and beyond. The event took place at Infinity Hall in Hartford, C.T.

An award-winning brand professional who earned her stripes on Madison Avenue and at major television networks before launching her own agency, Cohen specializes in discovering, cultivating and perfecting clients’ brands. At TEDx, she stressed the importance of developing an authentic personal brand. Cohen shared her story of growing up as a twin and the challenges she faced in creating a unique identity while fielding questions like, “Why do you weigh more than your twin?” or “Why do you get better grades?”

“With our lives playing out online and competition growing more global, personal branding is no longer a luxury − it’s a requirement,” Cohen said. “I’m extremely passionate about helping people be their best selves and communicate their unique value.”

As only a true marketer would, she left the audience with a call-to-action, stating “If I – as a twin – can develop a personal brand, so can you!”

Co-organized by Lee Simmons and Laura Dinan Haber, this year’s event theme was “Imagine” and featured a line-up of eight speakers, including Arthur Haines, Selena Rezvani, Charles Teale Sr., Rachel DeAlto, Ryan Mazurkivich, Frank W. Maletz and Matt Kozloski.

The independently-produced event operates under a license from TED and presents a program of discussions, demonstrations, and performances by leading thinkers, innovators, artists, philosophers and entertainers from diverse fields such as technology, the arts, ecology, education and more.
