Sinead O’Conner’s cover of the Prince song “Nothing Compares 2 U” made her instantly famous, Sinead is, and continues to be a troubled talent filled with self-loathing and confusion. She tore up a picture of the Pope on live TV (SNL), has been embroiled in religious and sexual controversies, and may be living on another planet at the time of this writing, but what a song that was.

“Baby’s Got Back” by the talented Sir Mix-a-lot was all about the booty, literally. MTV made this song what it is today.

“Macarena” by Los del Rio is the perfect one hit wonder in that it came out of left field, was performed by unknowns, and disappeared as quickly as it arrived The video was pretty good we’ll give them that.
