Seattle is secure in its place in rock history, given that the Ventures, Mark Lindsey of ‘Paul Revere and the Raiders,’ Kenny Loggins, Heart and Jimi Hendrix all hail from the area.

One of the distinct contributions was also the grunge movement, which began in the late 80s to early 1990s with bands Mr. Epp and the Calculations, The U-Men, Nirvana and Soundgarden.

We now hear that the Seattle Repertory Theatre is developing a musical that will not only be relevant, but reflect the true nature of the grunge music movement, and its home the Seattle area. The project will feature the songs from the Smashing Pumpkins and Alice In Chains, and lend a ‘West Side Story’ leaning to the show.

Former Nirvana manager Janet Billig Rich is working side by side with the creators of the musical; given her knowledge and years of molding the late Kurt Cobain, we think it’s a perfect match.
