The ‘Route 91 Harvest Festival,’ a three-day country music event in Las Vegas, was marred by a horrific lone gun shooting that has left at least 50 country music fans dead, and over 200 additional festival goers injured. The shooting took place early Sunday morning Las Vegas time; authorities have identified the gunman who was killed by SWAT teams on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
Jason Aldean was on stage when the shooting began, running to safety once the crowd and stage realized the sounds they were hearing was gunfire. Jake Owen was standing a few feet away from Jason when the incident began, also taking cover. Jake’s Twitter account details gunfire bouncing off the stage floor at the beginning of the incident, thanking Las Vegas Police for their heroic efforts.
Jason and Jake, along with their staffs and stagehands appear to have escaped serious injury, no additional information regarding victims have been released at this time.
