The Rock and Roll Alphabet continues with a look at Green Day. Although Green Day has had a fair amount of commercial success, the band began as a punk band from East Bay California in the mid-80s.

The band currently consists of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, but did have a few lineup changes in the early days. There have however been two drummers (the original drummer was John Kiffmeyer). Green Day has sold over 85 million records, having earned a Grammy or ‘Dookie’ in 1995. “Good Riddance-Time of Your Life” won an MTV award, selling millions of copies and becoming a song for the soundtrack of many people’s lives.

Did you know that Green Day (it’s members) are the youngest in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? They were inducted in 2015. Mike Dirnt and Billy Joe Armstrong love coffee; so much so they created their own coffee company called ‘Oakland Coffee.’
