The ‘Band’ was one of the more interesting rock groups to record and tour in the days of old, and now you can own a piece of the Band. The 1965 Fender Telecaster guitar one owned by Robbie Robertson used in the Bob Dylan recording sessions is at auction scheduled for May 19th in New York City. The guitar has been rumored to bring a bid of between $400,000 and $500,000, in the Julien’s Auctions’ next “Music Icons” sale. The event takes place at the Hard Rock Café in New York City in person, with online bidding.

How historic is the axe? How about the fact that it was used in Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde and The Basement Tapes albums? To make your imagination run ever more wild, it was THE guitar played with The Band at the Woodstock, as well as the famous 1971 stand at New York’s Academy of Music, with special guest Bib Dylan. As if the guitar didn’t need a better resume, it’s been played by legends Eric Clapton and George Harrison.

Don’t forget, the auction is live at the Hard Rock Café in New York May 19th in New York City, and online here. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the American Indian College Fund.
