“If I Leave Here Tomorrow: A Film About Lynyrd Skynyrd” is the latest documentary to hit select theaters this month, generating new interest in the southern iconic band. The tragic 1977 plane crash that took the loves of Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray Jr. and tour manager Dean Kilpatrick remains one of the darkest days in rock and roll. Earlier in the year, we shared the news that living members of the band (and survivors of the crash) had successfully blocked an earlier documentary not sanctioned by the estate.

The good news, however, is that the most recent documentary ‘I Leave Here Tomorrow’ made its premiere at the SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas, but the news continues well after the festival fans leave. There may be a chance to see the documentary in future days. We’ll keep you updated as the estate is considering publishing the work on DVD, and may already be in talks with finding a cable opportunity to show the film.
