As a young teen, Janis was overweight, had pimples, and was bullied by her classmates. She considered herself a misfit.

Janis routinely drank with band members and roadies while on tour in drinking contests.

The Movie ‘The Rose” starring Barbra Streisand is loosely inspired by Janis Joplin died October 4th, 1970 at the age of 27 and left $2,500 in her will for the purpose of a party for her friends in the event she ever died.
