Carrie had just finished with a rigorous book tour abroad, resting comfortably on a plane from London Los Angeles when she suffered a cardiac episode December 23rd. Carrie Fisher, our Princess Leia Organa, died early Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.

Carrie hated costumes, nor did she like the hair style she was asked to display in her iconic role as Princess Leia. Life was not always easy for Carrie, battling drugs while filming Star Wars and The Empire Strikes back.

Most fans don’t know that Sissy Spacek, Jessica Lange, Meryl Streep and Sigourney Weaver were also considered for the character of Princess Leia, but George Lucas, the film’s producer, saw something he liked in her audition, offering her the role.

Carrie was the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and actor Eddie Fisher, but earned her own fame and fortune as an accomplished actress, appearing in the films ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ ‘The Blues Brothers’ and ‘Hannah and Her Sisters.’ Carrie also wrote seven books, including her best effort a semi-autobiography called ‘Postcards From the Edge.’

Carrie Fisher is survived by son Billie Lourd, her mother Debbie Reynolds, brother Todd Fisher, half-sisters, and actresses Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher.
