Rap’s Highest Earners in 2015

Billboard released its top 40 list of highest earners in 2015 and there are plenty of rappers included. The highest earning rapper last year was none other than J. Cole.

J. Cole barely edged out The Weeknd with his $8.8 million earned last year. Of that almost $9 million, he made $5.5 million from touring. He made $1.5 million from sales, $1.1 from publishing, and $788 thousand from streaming. Of the 40 artists named on the list, he came in 27th.

The Weeknd finished one spot behind J. Cole with his $8.6 million earned. He made more from sales than J. Cole did ($3.6 million), but less from touring ($2.3 million). All together, his 2015 revenue ranked him 28th.

Other rappers on the list include Drake ($7.4 million) and Nicki Minaj ($6.3 million).
