Prince’s Death and Other Monday Music Headlines

Here are your Monday morning music headlines…

The world is still spinning from the death of Prince last week. An autopsy has been performed with no apparent signs of foul play or suicide, but the results of the final exam may take up to two weeks to be disclosed.

Sadly, Lonnie Mack, one of rock and rolls most influential guitarist has died at the age of 74. Lonnie was close friends with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Lonnie never got over Stevie’s tragic death, choosing to quietly fade away into the night.

Roy Orbison would have been 80 over this past weekend. John Cougar Mellencamp is currently on tour, and announced that he’s having so much fun he’s decided to extend the tour into the Fall.

Birthdays this week include “My Love is Alive” singer Gary Wright, Ace Frehley of KISS, Tommy James, Willie Nelson, Kate Pierson of the B-52’s, Sheena Easton, Carrie Wilson of ‘Wilson Phillips,’ and Duran Duran’s Roger Taylor.
