Peter Frampton is currently touring with Steve Miller this summer, giving us a reason to look back at Peter’s life and career, wondering how we got so lucky as to have such a guitar virtuoso in our midst?

Peter Kenneth Frampton was born in South London in 1950, and in high school played with a wide range of high school bands. In the early days, Peter was lead guitarist and singer of British pop band The Herd, but that success didn’t last long (he was 15 at the time) Peter’s big break came when he was hired to be the guitarist of Humble Pie at the sweet age of 18. Peter broke from the band to launch his solo career right in front of Humble Pie’s biggest selling album but has no regrets.

“Frampton Comes Alive” has sold over 12 million copies and became the best-selling live rock album in history until 1998; Peter nearly fell over when told that his album had overcome Carole King’s “Tapestry” in the mid-70s.
