Here are our top Elton John albums, or at least albums we believe defined Elton and songwriter Bernie Taupin.

The album ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ gave fans the songs “Candle in the Wind,” “Saturday Night are Alright for Fighting,” and “Bennie and the Jets.” “Candle in the Wind” took on a life of its own after the tragic death of Princess Diana, and rumor has it that Elton has yet to sing it again after the funeral for her.

“Madman Across the Water” was a significant album in the mid-70s that produced “Tiny Dancer,” “Levon” and the title track “Madman Across the Water.”

“Honky Chateau” is a playful album that seemed to allow Elton to be himself, recording releasing the top singles “Rocket Man,” “Honky Cat” and the closet hit “Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters.” Thanks to the Cameron Crowe “Almost Famous” move that brought so many of Elton’s songs back to life.
