One Republic is a band with an interesting backstory. The group began in Colorado Springs in 2002, posting all their music on Myspace where they gained notoriety. The original members include Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, and they actually met while classmates at the Colorado Springs Christian High School. They put a few of their friends on stage with them under the band name of ‘Beautiful Mess.’ They parted ways after high school graduation heading off to different colleges.

They re-formed in 2002 after college in Los Angeles, putting material together for their debut album called ‘Dreaming Out Loud.’

The band’s first single “Apologize” made history with over 10,000 spins (times heard on the radio) in the first week making broadcast history.

Ryan and Zach tell their fans that the groups U2 and Beatles major musical influences on the boys in their early days.
