On Monday, we talked about a few of the better one hit wonders throughout the years. There are plenty more to be talked about though! Let’s take a dip into a few more today…

“Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot was a great video that generated fame and fortune to this Seattle born rapper, opening the door for this unknown artist. That door quickly closed however. Nicki MInaj claims his song gave her inspiration to her hit single “Anaconda.”

Loleatta Holloway was born in Chicago in 1946, working the music industry cranking out dance tunes that barely hit the chars for decades. Her big break came with the song “Good Vibrations” in 1991, a tune she recorded with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. Sadly, Loleatta died of heart failure in 2011 at 64, leaving behind four teenage children.

“How Do You Talk to An Angel” by The Heights was all the rage in 1992, earning the band an Emmy nomination from the hip 90s show of the same name.

“Mickey” by Tony Basil, “Come On Eileen” by Dexys Midnight Runners, and “Come to Me” by Patti Austin, Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy,” and We Are the World” by the collaborative group of singers known as USA For Africa, all reached number one for 15 minutes from the 80s and 90s.
