The slow season of sports is almost here, but there’s plenty of news and notes to discuss. Alex Rodriguez is about have his own show on television, the College Football Playoff has added a member and a former baseball star gets another chance…

Alex Rodriguez will be the host of a show titled “Back in the Game” in the future. It will be found on CNBC and will be about helping former athletes that need financial help.

Frank Beamer was a star coach for the Virginia Tech Hokies for many years, but retired before last season. He’s found himself a new gig already and that is as a member of the College Football Playoff committee.

Josh Hamilton’s story has been one of many ups and downs, cashing in on a big bonus early on in life before hitting rock bottom because of drugs and alcohol. He has signed back on with the Texas Rangers for $535,000 if he makes it onto the big league club this season.
