Sure winning awards is nice, but when your peers tell you how good you are, it’s even more special. The Recording Academy (the folks that hand out the Grammy’s) has chosen Tina Turner, Neil Diamond, Louis Jordan, studio musician Hal Blaine, Queen, The Meters, and Emmylou Harris for their ‘Lifetime Achievement Award.’

Neil Diamond’s career spans nearly five decades, selling over `150 million records and winning every award imaginable.

Did you know that he and Barbara Streisand went to the same New York Public school together? Yes, they knew each other but weren’t friends.

Neil wrote the hit tune “I’m A Believer” for the Monkees and “Red, Red Wine,” covered by UB40. Neil is pretty proud of his Golden Globe earned for his soundtrack for his 1974 Jonathan Livingston Seagull movie.

The song “Sweet Caroline” that you hear at baseball games (notably the Red Sox) is about the late JFK’s daughter Caroline Kennedy.

Finally, Neil is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has a Star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
